Get the Mounjaro Injections at Home in Dubai is a prescription medication used for managing type 2 diabetes and, more recently, for weight management. It's administered as a subcutaneous injection, usually once a week. If you’ve been prescribed Mounjaro and will be giving yourself injections at home, here’s a general guide to the steps involved:
1. Prepare for the Injection
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Gather all necessary supplies:
Mounjaro prefilled pen
Alcohol swabs
A clean, dry tissue or cotton ball (optional)
A sharps container (for disposal of used needles)
2. Inspect the Mounjaro Pen
Check the expiration date on the pen before using it.
Inspect the pen to make sure the liquid is clear and colorless. Do not use the pen if the liquid looks discolored, cloudy, or has particles.
Make sure the pen is at room temperature. If it’s cold (from the fridge), let it warm up to room temperature (about 30 minutes) before injecting. Never microwave it or use hot water.
3. Prepare the Injection Site
Choose an injection site on your body. Common areas include:
The abdomen (except near the navel)
The front or outer side of the thigh
Upper arm (if someone is helping you inject)
Clean the skin at the chosen site with an alcohol swab, using a circular motion. Let the area dry to avoid irritation.
4. Prepare the Mounjaro Pen
Remove the cap from the Mounjaro pen.
Check the dose: Mounjaro comes in different doses, so ensure the correct dose is set on the pen (usually starting at 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, or 10 mg).
To dial the dose, you will turn the dose knob until the correct number appears in the display window.
Do not press the injection button yet.
5. Prime the Pen (If Required)
If you're using the pen for the first time or haven't used it in a while, it may need to be primed. This ensures that air bubbles are removed and the pen is ready to deliver the correct dose.
To prime:
Attach a new needle (if necessary) to the pen.
Point the pen upward and hold it with the needle facing up.
Dial to the 0.5 mg or 1 mg dose.
Press the injection button until you see a drop of medicine at the tip of the needle. This confirms that the pen is primed and ready for use.
6. Administer the Injection
Hold the pen like a pencil or syringe, and insert the needle at a 90-degree angle into the skin at the prepared site.
Press the injection button on the pen. Hold the button down until the full dose is delivered (usually 10-15 seconds).
Once the injection is complete, remove the needle from the skin and apply gentle pressure with a cotton ball or tissue to the site.
7. Dispose of the Needle
Safely dispose of the needle in a sharps container. Do not throw the needle away in the trash, as it could pose a risk to others.
If your pen requires a new needle for each injection, be sure to discard the needle properly.
8. Store the Mounjaro Pen
After use, store the Mounjaro pen in a safe place at room temperature (between 68°F to 77°F or 20°C to 25°C).
If you need to store it in the fridge (before the first use), make sure it's not frozen.
Keep the pen cap on when storing it to protect the medication.
9. Track Your Doses
- Keep a record of your injection dates and doses. This can help you stay on track and make adjustments if needed, especially if you're transitioning between doses.
Additional Tips:
Rotate Injection Sites: To avoid irritation, rotate injection sites with each dose.
Do Not Reuse Needles: Always use a new needle for each injection to ensure accuracy and prevent infection.
Do Not Share Pens: Even if you and someone else are using the same medication, never share injection pens or needles.
If You Miss a Dose:
- If you forget to take your weekly injection, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for a missed one.
Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions and reach out to them if you have any concerns or experience side effects.
